It has been two months since the death of Swainsboro beautician Cindy Lynch, but the case is still not closed. In January, Lynch disappeared from her family's boat in the Thunderbolt Marina. Almost two weeks later, her body was recovered from the Wilmington River.
Police say Lynch's death was from accidental drowning, but Thunderbolt police chief Steve Smith says final toxicology reports are holding up closing the case.
"There are toxicology reports that are still out there," he said. "When they come in, the case will be closed. Most are in, but there are some that have just not come in yet."
Chief Smith says, without the case closed, a death certificate can't be processed. He hopes to have the case wrapped up before he leaves the Thunderbolt Police Department next month.
