SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah Alderwoman Estella Shabazz is calling into question the city’s approval of the proposed police merger agreement.

Savannah City Council voted 5 to 2 to pass the proposal during a special meeting on Monday, but Shabazz says proper parliamentary procedure was not followed.

The meeting had its share of tense moments before Mayor Eddie DeLoach cut it off and called for vote.

Shabazz did not vote, because she says she was not given a fair chance to discuss the issue further.

The alderwoman says she has spoken with the city attorney about the matter, but the city attorney was not made available for comment on Wednesday.

Our request for a comment from the city has not been returned yet either.

The Chatham County Commission is set to vote on the proposed agreement on Friday.
