SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department’s Special Victims Unit has charged a 23-year-old male rape and aggravated sodomy.

Theron Hendrix has been charged in the rape of a Savannah teen that occurred on Feb. 16th behind an abandoned residence on the 4400 block of Clinch St.

Officers received an anonymous tip from a citizen that helped them identify a suspect and led to the arrest.

At about 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 22, Central Precinct patrol officers responded to reports of a suspicious subject in the Clinch Street yard where the attack occurred. The suspect, identified as Hendrix, was arrested and charged with loitering and prowling as well as criminal trespassing.

Hendrix fit the description of the suspect from the Feb. 16th rape. After further investigation, it was found that Hendrix has possible links to another sexual assault of a Savannah teen on March 2nd on the 700 block of West Victory Drive.

From Aug. 25, 2014 to March 2, 2015, Metro’s SVU launched six investigations into prior sex crimes possibly involving the same suspect.

DNA and other forensic evidence are being analyzed to determine any links between Hendrix and the other sexual assault cases.

These investigations are ongoing.
