SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations is confirming to WTOC that it has launched an official investigation into some serious allegations against 6th District Alderman Tony Thomas.

WTOC spoke with the agent in charge of that investigation on Monday afternoon. He said a lot of new information has come forward since the last time they were asked to look into the alderman's activities a couple of years ago.

In the WTOC investigation that aired last week, several alleged victims accused Thomas of sexual abuse of a minor and providing alcohol and cocaine to underage young men.

Thomas denied those allegations.

However, the Chatham County District Attorney's Office has been gathering new allegations and talking with additional alleged victims for nearly two months now. And just recently turned that over to the GBI.

Coming up Thursday on the News at 6 p.m., the WTOC investigation of Tony Thomas continues with more alleged victims, more accusations and even one individual who claims she was an unknowing accomplice to some of the activities the alderman is being accused of.
