SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah Mall management has confirmed to WTOC that there was a shots fired incident outside of the mall in the parking lot around 2 p.m. on Thursday.

The mall is in no significant danger and the mall is not on lockdown.

According to Savannah-Chatham Metro Police, a robbery occurred in the food court at the mall that stemmed from a Craigslist meet-up to sell a computer. The victim of the robbery followed the suspect, and shot a “warning shot” into the air outside in the parking lot.

According to police, the suspect dropped the computer and fled the scene toward Hwy 204.

"You don't need to be making Craigslist transfers in this kind of place. It needs to be where law enforcement can keep an eye on it,” said Savannah Mall General Manager Phil McConnell.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion, possibly in his late teens to early 20's. The suspect was clean-shaven with his hair styled in twists or a short afro. During the incident he wore a black jacket and blue jeans.

The incident is under investigation.

The man who fired the shot was fingerprinted at the scene and not detained.

No charges have been filed at this time.
