SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Coastal Region Metropolitan Planning Organization and the City of Savannah hosted another community workshop Friday regarding the development of "Parking Matters - A Strategic Plan for Parking and Mobility in Greater Downtown Savannah."

The project team walked through the study findings and recommendations to improve parking. There was also an opportunity for people to ask questions and provide input.

"This will be a process. It is not going to happen overnight. People can go to bed tonight and not wake up and there be all new regulations a fees all over the city. That's not going to happen. We are going to take our time with this,” said Mobility and Parking Services Director Veleeta McDonald. “We'll according to our consultant, we are possibly one of the best bicycling and pedestrian cities in the U.S. ... and so what there recommendation is, we should do things to actually improve and enhance that.”

The study area includes greater Downtown Savannah from River Street to Victory Drive and Boundary Street to East Broad Street, as well as the area around Indian Street.
