Spring breakers have landed on the shores of Tybee Island and local businesses are ready as this and St. Patrick's week kicks off the season.

WTOC talked to several local shops Tuesday who are excited and college students who are loving this great weather and sandy beaches.

Spring breakers, some all the way from Michigan, are loving their trip to Tybee so far. And they are kicking off the season as more and more spring breakers will make their way to the sandy beaches.

"It's a good thing for us, it's a good thing for the island and it’s a good thing for business,” said Michael Flores, manager at TS Chu’s.

Flores said he gets excited after a slow season to see more people out on the beaches.

"It’s a little crazy but going through a winter time when you don’t see nobody, no cars, to seeing people it’s very exciting. I love it. Seeing people here, the spring breakers choosing Tybee out of all the places,” said Flores.

Sundae Café, also on Tybee Island, is a local favorite but they see an increase of people in their small restaurant.

James Collins, the assistant general manager, said they add extra staff when needed because business triples.

"Spring break is when you start seeing 30,000 visitors. We're just trying to get ready for it,” said Collins.

Wet Willies Vice President Emily Dickinson said they will be prepared for the large crowds.

"We'll be sure to have security measures in place to make sure they stay safe and our staff is safe during the crowded time,” said Dickinson.

Lastly, hotels like the Cotton Sail are also affected by the increase of people. They even almost tripled their nightly rates for next week because of the demand.

"At Cotton Sail we are prepared, we are well staffed,” said Cotton Sail Hotel General Manager Inan Isik.

All in all everyone is ready and excited for the crowd, and are prepared for a great time.
