Stuart Knight, the son of WTOC radio and TV founder, dies at 89

Stuart Knight. Stuart Knight.
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A great loss for the founding family of WTOC-TV.

Stuart Grady Knight passed Tuesday night.

Knight's father, the late W.T. Knight started first WTOC radio and then our TV station.

The community remembers Stuart Knight as the behind the scenes bookkeeper who brought WTOC into the computer age.  He also introduced others to personal computers by establishing the Savannah Country Day School's computer lab, which the family calls his biggest accomplishment.

He is survived by four children and eight grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Saturday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors.

The funeral service is 1 p.m. on Sunday at White Bluff United Methodist Church, where he was a charter member.

The burial will follow at Bonaventure Cemetery.

Stuart Knight was 89 years old.
