SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Partying for a purpose at the Ships of the Sea Museum in Savannah on Friday night.

The Savannah Professional Firefighters Association hosted its annual charity fire ball.

The formal event benefits the National Fallen Firefighter's Fund and Paws for a Cause. It also honors recent retirees and new members.

Friday, firefighters from 92 different departments were in attendance, from as far away as New York and Glendale, Arizona.

"It's a real sense of pride. We're not just a community service organization, we do it proudly and humbly. So every now and then it's nice to let loose and celebrate each other, our company and what we do,” said Savannah Professional Firefighters President Bob Millie.

The ball, presented by Love Actually Weddings and Events, featured an open bar, live entertainment, a silent auction and raffle.
