Metro investigates Scarborough Street shooting, stolen firearm

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police are investigating after a shooting incident took place on Scarborough Street near Exley Street, Monday afternoon. 

Police say 22-year-old Jackie Heath was found with a gunshot wound on the porch of a home just after 5 p.m. Originally, Heath told police  3 unknown passengers in a red Crown Victoria were involved in the shooting, but detectives later determined the gunshot wound was self-inflicted. They believe it was accidental.

Police also say the weapon used in the shooting was found to be stolen from another county.

Charges for Heath are pending.

This case remains under investigation.
