SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Celebrating the Chrism Mass Tuesday night at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Savannah.

During this Holy Week, the service includes priests renewing their commitment to the priesthood.

Bishop Gregory Hartmayer blessed oils to be used throughout the Diocese for the next year, and over 80 priests from South Georgia joined him.

Right after the service, the oils were poured into smaller containers and given to the priests to take them back to their parishes to use for Baptisms, Anointing of the Sick, Confirmations and other services.

"When babies are baptized and when adults come into the church, they're blessed with this oil saying that they are learning about the Catholic Church,” said Ann Pinckney, Cathedral of St. John the Baptist.
