Georgia House, Senate pass stun gun bill

GEORGIA (WTOC) -

A bill that passed both the Georgia House and Senate, would allow students who are 18 and older to carry stun guns on college campuses.

Like the campus carry gun bill, it's been controversial. It's unclear whether Governor Deal will sign or veto it.

But, law enforcement experts say they have more concern about stun guns than actual firearms because stun guns can put you in more of a dangerous position when it comes to protecting yourself.

"You know the idea is to avoid confrontation if we can. Law enforcement has a different role. Like you said, they have to take the guy into custody to keep him under control. As a civilian, I don't necessarily want to take the guy under control. I don't have to take him into custody. What I want to do is get away,” said Gary Glemboski, Global Tactical Training Group.

Gov. Deal has 40 days after the session ends to either sign or veto the bill.
