STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -

Three legends in American journalism encouraged Georgia Southern University students to look for substance when it comes to picking political office and taking stands on issues.

Ted Koppel, of Nightline fame, headlined a panel with Mara Liasson of NPR and Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post.

The three talked about the unprecedented campaign of Donald Trump in this presidential race and the changes within both major political parties.

"It comes at a time when people from all across the political spectrum are just angry at politics and politicians,” said Robinson, Washington Post columnist.

Despite the bitterness of the campaign, the trio urged students to engage in the political process and study the issues that affect them and practice their right to vote.
