Did you hear the Good News this week?
This week the real winners from last spring’s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure were revealed. On Tuesday the local Komen affiliate handed out more than $350,000, money all raised from last year's race.
The Komen grants were presented to nonprofit groups and medical organizations and will help provide breast cancer screenings to women who might not have access to them.
Former Olympic trainer Michael Cohen is not training world champions at the moment, just winners. Cohen has designed a workout program to help Parkinson's patients turn back time.
Cohen says the program provides tools to improve mobility, strength and confidence. He tells us the program is making an amazing difference on the participants.
And finally, a special delivery from Savannah Mayor Eddie DeLoach this week.
He took part in the annual March for Meals campaign, an effort to raise awareness about Meals on Wheels. The program, run by Senior Citizens, Inc. makes sure our local seniors have food, and they deliver more than 9,000 meals each week to folks in Chatham, Effingham, Bryan and Liberty counties.
Volunteers deliver more than just food. Often, they are the only person a senior will see all day and that interaction can be critical.
