SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The City of Savannah is potentially one step closer to beginning the search for a new city manager, to replace current City Manager Stephanie Cutter.

Out of four private search firms vying to conduct the search for the City of Savannah, the committee invited Colin Baenziger & Associates to give a presentation to council members Friday morning.

Alderman Van Johnson says Baenziger's firm is the highest rated out of all the firms that applied.

"After we decide on the firm that we want to conduct the search, it's an opportunity for us to really talk about what we want in a city manager. What attributes or qualities we would like to have. And I think that should be an inclusive process. Not only council members, but also folks from neighborhoods, from business communities, from our other governmental partners...about what types of qualities that person would embody,” said Alderman Johnson.

He says he anticipates council will approve the recommendation to go with Baenziger to begin the search during the next city council meeting.
