Officers citizens honored by SCMPD.

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Several Savannah-Chatham Metro Police officers and community members were honored Friday for the bravery and dedication to the entire community throughout Chatham County.

Police Chief Jack Lumpkin honored more than two dozen officers with various awards.

Among the recipients were the SWAT team that helped two Chatham County Sheriff's deputies pinned down in a stand-off in Pooler last month.

Team members say they are honored, but the greater reward comes when the mission is complete.

"Everyone goes home, that's the common goal. I'm glad that my teammates are here to share this award with us, and there are some brave officers that are getting notoriety that they deserve tonight," said APO Phillip Collard, Medal of Distinction.

All six members of the team received the Medal of Distinction.
