SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

More than 20,000 bottles of water will be shipped from Georgetown to Flint, Michigan on Saturday after weeks of the Georgetown K8 Fresh Water Drive that began on March 22..

The school not only encouraged students, but the entire community to get involved.

"I never expected the outpouring of concern for others that we've received. Water has come in from everywhere... and everybody who's brought water in has just felt like 'I'll bring in more tomorrow.' So we've been really thrilled. We had no idea it was going to be so successful,” said Georgetown K-8 Assistant Principal Glenda James.

Because of that success, the drive has been extended until next Saturday, April 9th.
