As we head into severe weather season in coastal Georgia, the Liberty County Emergency Management Agency is making sure the people they serve stay safe.
They’re doing that by getting as many people as possible to sign up for an early warning system through Everbridge. The system is free, and allows subscribers to receive all kinds of alerts, from missing people to severe weather, through all sorts of devices.
The Liberty County EMA has had the service for three years, and say there's been a bit of a decline in the number of people taking advantage of a service that could help save lives.
"All of us here feel like the more that people know, the less you are going to have to do in an office like this. Because they will know what to do, they are informed, they have made a plan. And when they get the word that they need to activate that plan, it all comes together and people do the right thing,” said Liberty County EMA Director Mike Hodges.
