TATTNALL CO., GA (WTOC) -

The people who set rules for prisons across the state get the chance Thursday to see how things operate behind bars.

The Department of Corrections holds one meeting per year outside Atlanta, and they're in Tattnall County, meeting with the Departments of Public Safety and Pardons and Paroles.

They meet there because Tattnall County houses three major prisons and employs corrections officers in this region.

"We know that corrections has a major impact on this community. We're one of the largest employers. So we want to continue to keep that working relationship,” said Department of Corrections Commissioner Homer Bryson.

This meeting is also the only time those three groups meet together.
