SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Food vendors, nutrition directors and school officials packed the Savannah Convention Center on Friday to work to make your kids' school lunches better every year.

It is day two for the annual Georgia School Nutrition Conference, now in its 61st year. More than 228 vendors packed the Convention Center offering unique samples of food and modern menu items.

The Georgia School Nutrition Association’s motto for this school year is "Georgia strong" -- rebuilding motivation, and synergism to keep Georgia's school meals at the forefront of innovation.

“They have no problem with wheat bread, no problem with brown rice, but I think we need to create some ideas to make it more appealing to them,” said Chatham County Interim School Nutrition Director Onetha Bonaparte.

“Georgia stands, I’m biased, heads and shoulders above. We are trend setters, we're pioneers, we're renegades, we're willing to try anything and do anything to feed children. So I think, I’m biased, we're doing a great job,” said Georgia School Nutrition Association President Vanessa Hayes.

The conference continues for its third and final day, Saturday.
