SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Runners are still in shock after witnessing gun shots Tuesday morning while they were gathered outside of Fleet Feet Sports.

A man was shot less than a block away from runners who were gathered near 51st Street and Waters Avenue around 5:30 a.m. This is in a well-known part of town near Daffin Park and the Ardsley Park neighborhood.

Chris Ramsey says as they showed up for their morning run. They heard several pops, a brief silence and then four or five more shots. That's when said they realized what was happening.

So they took cover and called 911.

Investigators gave a vague description of the suspects, saying there were two black males in their early to mid-20s, wearing dark clothing and hats. Police say they fled the scene after shooting 30-year-old Bernie Edwards. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

But even after all of that, Ramsey said they still decided to make the best of their morning run.

"We were a little taken aback by it and not super excited about but like I said earlier - we decided to go ahead and get our run in anyway - not because we are stubborn but because we thought it was the right thing to do,” said Ramsey.
