BULLOCH CO., GA (WTOC) - A Bulloch County Sheriff's deputy stops what could have been a costly burglary for one motorcycle shop.

Thieves pulled up late Tuesday night to grab cycles, four-wheelers and more but they never got in the door.

The owner of the shop tells WTOC crooks could have wiped him out Tuesday night if not for a quick thinking deputy in the right place at the right time. All the horsepower outside could have been gone. But Investigator Dusty Williams drove by and saw something.

"He noticed a large Penske rental truck pulled up next to the business. At that time of night, it was completely out of character," said Chief Deputy Jared Akins, Bulloch County Sheriff's Office.

Williams turned around but two crooks sped away. He gave chase and arrested John Best of Baltimore, off a side road near the truck.

The other man got away. Turns out the truck was stolen.

Williams and others found the shop's front door damaged and almost pried open.

Akins said the pair were seconds from getting a door open to load up whatever they could.

"Just good work by a heads-up investigator who knew what to look for," said Akins.

If you know anything about the second burglar, call the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office at 912.764.8888.
