SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah Fire and Emergency Services is 22 members stronger.

Friday, 21 men and one woman graduated from the first 2016 recruit class. They've completed three months of rigorous training and they're now nationally recognized with the Firefighter II designation.

We caught up with some of the graduates, a few from North Georgia and one from Virginia.

No matter where they're from, they all tell us they're happy to be here in Savannah.

"I'm just so energized right now. I'm so motivated just to get on the floor and start working and prove what I have right now because I have great instructors who've motivated me through the whole training,” said Marc Ducre, SFES graduate.

"I wasn't sure coming in what these guys were going to be like... all of my classmates. I knew I was the only girl but I got here, these guys are great. The 21 guys that I'm with, they're going to be my brothers for life,” said Rachel Scott, SFES graduate.

The graduates have also earned additional certifications like Vehicle Extrication and 1st Responder.
