STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -
A big award could be on the way for one of those who teaches Georgia's smallest students.
Administrators of Georgia's Pre-K program surprised Channie Frazier in her class at Kids World Learning Center in Statesboro. She's one of three finalist for Pre-K teacher of the year in the Daycare Center category.
They'll pick another from Georgia's public schools category.
Frazier said the award helps reinforce Pre-K as "real teaching".
“It lets us know we are important and we do matter. We aren't teaching high school and we are with little ones all day, but our job is just as important,” said Frazier.
Frazier and Kids World pickup prize money Tuesday and we'll find out this fall if she'll represent the state for a year.
