In Chatham County, Board of Elections leaders are encouraging voters to know about the candidates before heading to the polls for Tuesday’s primary election.
The Board of Elections chairman said this primary cycle is a little different than recent elections because there are two partisan primary elections and a non-partisan general election.
"What people need to understand is, they will have to, in order to vote in one of the primaries, they'll have to declare their party...whether they want to vote in the Democratic Party or the Republican Party. And then everybody, regardless of party affiliation, can vote in the non-partisan general election," Chatham County Board of Elections Chairman Thomas Mahoney III said.
Don’t forget to bring a valid photo ID, as well.
Early voting ends Friday.
