SCMPD investigates shooting in Fred Wessels Homes

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are investigating a shooting that injured a man Thursday night.

It happened at approximately 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Wheaton and Randolph streets.

Officials say Phillip Lowrance, 27, was walking through the Fred Wessels housing area when he was approached by two teens who attempted to rob him. During a brief struggle, Lowrance was shot and received non-life-threatening injuries.

Lowrance was reportedly near the basketball courts when the incident occurred, and was shot in the leg.

The victims are described as two black teenage males, approximately 5-feet 7-inches tall.
