SYLVANIA, GA (WTOC) - Firefighters in Sylvania took their boots off Friday for a good cause.
Crews manned the intersections downtown to collect donations in the "Give Burns the Boot" drive. Money raised will go to the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.
It'll also help young burn victims attend camp. It's the second straight Friday for collections, and so far, they've raised nearly $4,000 dollars.
"People in this community have big hearts and they're really willing to give especially when they know it goes to a good cause like sending kids to camp and putting smoke detectors in homes. People really help, especially when you just ask," said Clint Williams, Sylvania Fire.
A small portion of what they collected will buy smoke detectors locally and distribute them at homes that don't have one.
