TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) -

For three decades now, thousands have flocked to Tybee Island for the annual Beach Bum Parade.

Known as one of the South's largest water fights, participants line the Butler Avenue parade route with buckets, hoses and water guns prepared to soak all those in shooting range.

Despite some changes to this year's rules, police tell WTOC it went off without a hitch.

"Tybee, at this point, has attracted more visitors every year than ever. Our department has grown in response. Over the last several years, we've included more manpower in the form of more officers. We're looking to do that as we go forward in the future, to get even bigger,” said Tybee Island Police Department Lt. Emory Randolph.

Lt. Randolph says former officers and volunteers helped keep the parade route safe. And despite some changes to this year's rules, police tell us it went off without a hitch.
