Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport has seen a nine percent increase in passengers over the past year and more than 200,000 people went through the airport in February.
Officials say a big part of this year’s success comes from adding Allegiant Airlines and from the economy getting better. Lori Lynah says it has been an excellent year so far and they look forward to what's to come in the future.
"Some of our current carriers, United and Delta are adding bigger equipment on certain routes so there are more seats on flights, even if it has the same number of flights. We feel like there is a lot of room for growth here and were thrilled about all the visitors to the area," said Lynah, SAV/HHI Int'l Airport.
Allegiant will soon add a stop in Lexington, Kentucky and American will add flights to Washington national airport in D.C.
