JASPER CO., SC (WTOC) - The Jasper County School board says its one step closer to selecting the district's new superintendent.
[endif]The board says over the next few days it will review the 50 applications for the position and narrow down top 10 candidates.
District officials say the board hopes to make a final decision on June 6.
The former superintendent was let go because of poor test scores. The board wants the district's new leader to focus on teacher retention, put forth an effort to reduce class sizes and create more outreach to parents.
