A longtime deputy in Bulloch County moved a step closer to becoming sheriff.
Sgt. Noel Brown defeated Chief Deputy Jared Akins by a 57 to 43 percent margin. Brown credits his supporters in helping him win the GOP nomination for the November General Election.
He says one of his biggest issues was about accessibility of the office for the public.
“When people come out, they do it for a reason and want to be heard. I know they want a change and that change is to be able to come to our office and be able to talk to someone,” said Sgt. Brown.
Brown will face off against Democrat Keith Howard, who ran unopposed in the primary.
