SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A local fundraiser is all about pubs, putt putt, and puppies!

Yes, it's almost time for the 5th Annual Putt Putt & Pub Crawl in Savannah, also known as Putt Putt for Paws.

This year, nine bars are participating in the bar crawl in and around City Market.

"Each bar creates its own unique putt putt hole,” said Eric Zimmerman, CEO of Oliver Bentleys. “Some of the bars are really creative about it.  It's been fantastic to watch it evolve over the last five years and it's a self-guided pub crawl."

"Our participants will check in at Ellis Square and they move around to each of the nine establishments in a foursome,” said Dana Schultz, The Club at Savannah Harbor. “So, each of them will play the hole and then we take two scores out of the four scores for prizes at the end for first, second, and third place prize."

There are many prizes for both participants and bars.

"It is rounds of golf at Savannah Harbor, we have the biscuits here from Oliver Bentleys, some merchandise and apparel. We've partnered with Southern Brewery this year and they're going to give away a tour at their brewery," said Schultz.

It costs $100 for four people and all of the money raised will help the local animal shelter.

"The Humane Society of Greater Savannah benefiting the community gets around 2,100 dogs and cats, animals, surrendered every year and that's a significant amount for a community our size," said Zimmerman.

This year's event is Saturday, June 11 from noon to 5 p.m. They're hoping to raise about $5,000.
