SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah City Council members decided they want a few more weeks to consider an agenda item involving the future of the film office.
The Savannah Economic Development Authority is proposing that the City of Savannah modify their partnership by creating a regional film office to be run exclusively by SEDA. By doing that, SEDA officials are looking to streamline operations and combine resources to make the Savannah area more attractive for movie production companies.
"I think it is important for people to understand, as a constitutionally mandated entity by the state to facilitate jobs and investment in Chatham County, that's why we're here. That's why we are taking on this initiative, that's why we are promoting this initiative, so we can bring more jobs to Chatham County," said SEDA President/CEO Trip Tollison.
City Council decided to table the issue until next month, and they'll ask to hear from the council-appointed film commission about the proposal in the meantime.
