MCINTOSH CO., GA (WTOC) - At a special meeting Thursday afternoon, Kelly Spratt stepped down as commission chairperson. The Board of Commissioners appointed David Stevens to fill that post while Spratt stays on the board as a commissioner.
Earlier this week, Brett Cook resigned as the county manager. That resignation was accepted by the board Thursday.
Meanwhile Commissioner Charles Jordan called for a GBI investigation of county spending by both Cook and Spratt to quote, "clear the minds of every citizen in McIntosh County."
However, Jordan did not elaborate further on specific accusations against the two.
"I still feel like that there's a lot of questions that need to be answered, and I feel think that the GBI can answer them," said Commissioner Jordan.
Stevens says for now, they'll be meeting with an outside auditor Friday morning. If that isn't sufficient, the GBI may be called in for a closer look.
