Savannah-Chatham Metro Police are looking for the suspect who attempted to attack a woman at an apartment complex on Mohawk Street.
It happened Tuesday morning in broad daylight.
Investigators say the woman was attacked after having a brief conversation with the suspect. She was able to get away without harm but the suspect took off in an unknown direction.
She described the suspect as a black male wearing a white t-shirt and jeans. His hair styled in small twists.
I spoke to several people around here and they are pretty shaken up about this because they fear this may be the same guy linked to another case that happened six months ago.
Tuesday’s case was just an attempt, the woman was able to get away without any harm. But sadly, that wasn't the case back in January. A man broke into a woman's apartment and sexually assaulted her.
Metro police tell WTOC they are still looking for this suspect along with the suspect in Tuesday's case. Investigators aren't saying they are related but residents around here tell me they fear this could be the same guy. And experts are wondering the same thing.
"It’s disturbing to know that individuals in our community are not safe in their homes. Often times in broad daylight. Nonetheless, it's a continuous cautionary tale that we do not live in a city that's free of violence,” said Kesha Gibson-Carter, Rape Crisis Center of the Coastal Empire.
The suspect was described as a black male with his hair styled with small twists. He was wearing a white t-shirt and dark jeans. And in January, the suspect was described as black male with his hair styled with dreadlocks. He wore a dark jacket and dark Dickie pants.
This is all we know, police haven't said whether they were young or old. If you have any information on either case, please call CrimeStoppers.
