Savannah-Chatham police are investigating a suspicious fire at an east Savannah apartment complex. About 1am this morning, police say someone set a trash can on fire in the laundry room at Indigo Pointe Apartments on LaRoche Avenue.
Savannah firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the front door. They quickly put out the fire and no one was injured.
They were concerned because the fire was burning near a wall containing gas lines.
Police say there were reports of children playing in the area earlier. They also found a washing machine that was broken into.
