CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

We're continuing to follow the effects of Tropical Storm Collin and how emergency officials are preparing for the worst of it overnight Monday and in to Tuesday morning.

Another situation officials have been keeping an eye on is Highway 80 heading out to Tybee Island.

We saw high tide around 10 o'clock Monday evening, and around 11 p.m. a portion of Hwy 80 was closed between Fort Pulaski and Lazaretto Creek due to water over the road.

"Whether it's on the beach or inland, if you come across a flooded area, you're going to want to turn around. You don't want to get caught out on 80 where the water is filling in behind you. You don't want to get caught on the island driving through deep water. It's dangerous and most of the time it's flowing across the road,” said Tybee Ocean Rescue Cpt. Todd Horne.

CEMA will continue to monitor overnight.
