BULLOCH CO., GA (WTOC) -

Some communities already hard hit by Tropical Storm Bonnie last week didn't need a visit from Colin. Road work and repairs, still underway now in Bulloch County.

The rain from Colin didn't add to the damage to Bulloch County's dirt roads. But it didn't help either.

We showed you much of that damage last week after Tropical Storm Bonnie left nearly a foot of rain and washed out spots on several roads. The overnight rain from Colin will slow down the repair crews.

Bulloch County's transportation director tells us the roads need several days of dry weather before they can handle the heavy equipment needed to fix them.

"By the time you run 40 dump trucks full of dirt up and down the road when it's saturated, you're damaging the road more than you're trying to fix it,” said Transportation Director Dink Butler.

Butler says residents who live near the wash-outs can access the road from one side or the other to get to a highway. He has no reports of anyone who's cut off or can't get in or out of their neighborhood.
