ATLANTA (AP) - The Georgia House has passed sweeping tax cuts that could eliminate any windfall revenue the state expected to collect as a result of the federal tax overhaul. The proposal would cut top income tax rates for individuals and businesses and double the standard deduction for all filers.

ATLANTA (AP) - The daughter of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. says that limiting access to guns is long overdue. The Rev. Bernice King says she plans to march with the survivors of the Florida school shooting next month. The Rev. Bernice King spoke Thursday at The King Center in Atlanta about the Feb. 14 massacre of 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

ATLANTA (AP) - The jail that mistakenly released a convicted murderer says no one will be disciplined for what happened. WSB-TV reports the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office realized a mistake was made after the murder victim's family saw Javoris Hurston on the streets.

ATLANTA (AP) - Authorities say a federal inmate in Atlanta has been sentenced to serve an additional year and a half in prison for running a taxi service that ferried escaped inmates to restaurants, hotels and homes. Prosecutors say that from November 2016 until April 2017, 41-year-old Deldrick Jackson and his fiancee provided escaped inmates with rides from the U.S. Penitentiary in Atlanta and smuggled contraband back into the prison.
