TATTNALL CO., GA (WTOC) - Fifty elementary-school-age kids are taking part in the Tattnall County's inaugural Kiwanis Kids Kamp at Gordonia Alatamaha State Park.
Youngsters get to stay overnight to learn skills, do crafts and enjoy the camp atmosphere, despite living so far from other organized camps.
"There's nowhere nearby for them to do something like this even if their parents could afford this. So this is one of the most important things we could do for them," said Tammy Wilds of Kiwanis Club of Tattnall County.
The Kiwanians paid the $10,000 cost for the camp with a fundraiser, and they'll look for ways to make next year's camp even better.
