CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Ogeechee Riverkeeper officials met with people in the community at Driftaway Café in Sandfly Thursday to keep them up to date with what’s happening on the river.

More importantly, they wanted to learn about people's questions and concerns in different communities everywhere the river runs.

"The Ogeechee River itself is 245 miles, also it's very different at the headwaters versus down here at the coast, and so the uses might be different and the issues we see might be different. We want to know what's going on," said Emily Markesteyn of Ogeechee Riverkeeper.

The organization just celebrated the grand opening of its new Georgetown office earlier this week.
