SCMPD seeks information in Oak Forest Drive shooting

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit is investigating a shooting at an apartment complex on the 2500 block of Oak Forest Drive.

The shooting occurred at about 7:45 p.m. Friday. Metro officers responded to the scene after reports of an injured person and found Edward Blount, 50, suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Blount was transported by ambulance to Memorial University Medical Center for treatment.

Investigators say they believe Blount may have been shot during an altercation with an acquaintance at the apartment complex. Detectives are currently working to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting as well as the identities of any suspects involved.

Officials say this is not believed to be a random shooting.
