SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Fathers Mentoring Sons hosted their second annual Black Tie Affair dedicated to connecting the young men of the community to older mentors.
Savannah Lives Matter founder Lorenzo McDonald spoke to the group at the Civil Rights Museum.
"It's a time for bonding. A time for fathers and sons to get together and give some powerful reinforcement. It's necessary because of the crime that's been going on in our city. You know, our mentality, if we can just save one person then we've done our job. So, this is our answer to try to help with the crime in our city," said Fathers Mentoring Sons founder Thomas Sills.
Guests also celebrated the Father and Son of the Year awarded to Ricky Brown, Jr. and his father.
