SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Worshippers at Savannah Christian Church attended service for the first time in their new worship center on Sunday.
After being under construction for the past few years, the long awaited Henderson Campus location welcomed the public to attend on Father's Day with open arms in their new building that can seat over 2,000 people.
"We're excited about this building for one reason: It gives us the space we need to keep welcoming more people to come to know Jesus in a life-changing way," said Senior Pastor Cam Huxford.
Pastor Huxford says they're excited and still learning where everything is, but this will also benefit others in the community.
"We hope that this facility will be a blessing to our community," Senior Pastor Cam Huxford. "Every year we do a Christmas outreach here and we have 10 percent of our population in our region attend that Christmas program, and we feel like that's a gift we can give to the community and this building will increase our ability to bless this community."
The $20 million construction project is just one of several the church has going on right now.
Savannah Christian Church averages around 8,000 people every weekend across the region at their different campuses.
