HAMPTON CO., SC (WTOC) -

Two South Carolina politicians are going head-to-head Tuesday as they fight for your vote as the South Carolina House Representative in District 122.

Despite the heat people are getting out and letting their voices be heard Tuesday. Officials telling me so far the turnout has been better than the primaries.

Incumbent Bill Bowers and Shedron Williams going head-to-head for that seat. Bowers had held this seat since 1997 and is a part of the Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee and Legislative Oversight Committee.

Williams is the county council chairman for Hampton County and serves on a number of local, state and national boards advocating for wellness and healthy lives.

The elections chairman says they both have been working hard and she wishes them both the best.

"We're hoping that people come out and voice their opinion and vote for who they want, it’s a very important election. We're hoping that the people who wants to make a change they have to be the people to come out and vote,” said Hampton County Elections Chairman Linda Givens.

Remember you still have until 7 p.m. Tuesday to cast your vote.
