SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The American Red Cross of Southeast and Coastal Georgia deploys husband and wife Deanna and Mark Hayes Friday to support the ongoing disaster operation in West Virginia.

Their mission is to ensure that families have a safe and secure environment they can go home to. The pair says they are very excited to serve those in need as the recover from the flooding.

"Well we do it, and I do it as a way of giving back to the community, giving back to the people. It's a good thing to be able to go out and help someone else because we did well in life, we go home to our comfy chairs but a lot of people in situations like this, lost everything. So we go out and do what we can to help,” said DeAnna and Mark Hayes.

The flood waters killed at least two dozen people and caused millions of dollars in damage.
