SEABROOK, SC (WTOC) -

The Burton Fire District is investigating a fatal crash involving two vehicles on Trask Parkway, early Sunday morning.

It happened at 12:30 a.m. at the intersection of US 21 and Seabrook Road near Whale Branch Middle School.

Officials say 24-year-old Sher'mann Palmer of St. Helena Island, and a student at South Carolina State University, was killed in the collision. Two others were injured.

Upon arrival, crews found a Nissan passenger vehicle and a Dodge Ram pickup on scene with heavy damage and occupants trapped inside both vehicles. Firefighters worked quickly to free the occupants.

Officials say the pickup turned left from Seabrook Road onto Trask Parkway and ended up turning in the wrong direction, going southbound in the northbound lane. The pickup truck hit Palmer's Nissan, killing him.

The two occupants of the pickup truck were transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of the pickup has been identified as Marry German. She was later charged with felony DUI.

The crash remains under investigation.
