Southside Fire and EMS employee fired after social media remarks

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A Southside Fire and EMS employee has been fired after making “slanderous remarks” on social media.

Southside Fire released the following statement on Monday:

Southside Fire Department is committed to serving the needs of our entire community. Our organization represents a diverse community, and we do not condone slanderous remarks nor allow those remarks to be affiliated with Southside Fire Department. We are aware that one of our employees made a personal remark on their Facebook page that affiliated their employment with Southside Fire Department. This employee was terminated for failing to meet the department's professional standards. Our priority as an organization is to service the needs of our community's citizens, and we do not condone any type of discrimination.
