The Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that took place in the 900 block of W. 52nd Street, Wednesday evening.
Metro police responded after a 911 call hang up. Investigators say two victims, a man and a woman, were inside a home. One of them was deceased, and the other was transported to the hospital.
The victim that was transported is in critical condition, according to an SCMPD official.
After an investigation, detectives ruled the incident as a domestic situation.
Authorities released the names of the victims Thursday.
The woman, 27-year-old Shanelle Shellman, suffered a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene by the coroner.
Her husband, 34-year-old Isaac Shellman, was found suffering from an apparent self-inflected gunshot wound. He still remains in critical condition at Memorial Health.
"Anytime there's a death in our city, our officers take it very seriously. We're looking into these cases and investigating as much as we can,” said Sonny Cohrs, SCMPD.
This is now the 30th homicide in Savannah this year.
