SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah Chatham Metro Police honored the hard work and dedication of three officers with new assignments in a promotion ceremony, Thursday afternoon.

Captain Joy Gellatly was promoted to Downtown Precinct Commander, Lieutenant Darold Holmes to Downtown Precinct Watch Commander, and Lieutenant Joseph Wright to West Chatham Precinct Watch Commander.

"Leadership in the police department is more than just going out and enforcing the law. It's also about getting the officers that work with you and work with your chain of command to go ahead and do the right thing for the right reasons at the right time, and Chief Lumpkin pushes that with us, so that was absolutely part of my decision, and I wanted that to happen as well," said Captain Joy Gellatly, SCMPD.

These officers who have been with the Metro force go out every single day to protect our city, and with these new promotions, they will continue to work to keep everyone safe.
